Finding a place with just decent service level in Denmark can be hard, unless you are spoiling yourself with a visit to one of the high-end restaurants. The bartenders are well educated, and if nothing on the menu seems like the right thing for you, they can whip up amazing things from your preferences.
The cocktail menu is changed quite often, always having both some well-known classics (usually with a slight quirk) and some novel cocktails. It's an awesome change in scenery to pass through the door from the not too interesting, definitely not too warm Rantzausgade into the oasis of Gilt.Ītmosphere and interior decoration is kept in a neat balance between relaxed, cozy and classy. Though not pressing the oh-so-trendy speak-easy style in any tacky way, it's not a place you are likely to stumble upon unless you know what you are looking for.
It's really not the neighborhood where you would expect to find a classy cocktail bar with amazing cozy ambiance. Gilt came before the recent hype, opened in 2003 and have stuck to the focus on serving supremely well-made cocktails. Over the last few years, a lot of nice, quality-minded cocktail bars have opened in Copenhagen.
